What is more effective: cardio before or after weight lifting?

I want to gain lean muscle mass while losing weight, so would doing cardio before or after weight lifting be helpful?

Also, is it absolutely necessary to do a 5 minute warmup for cardio if I’m going to go back on there after I lift weights?

    after definitely

A 5 minute warm up before cardio is essential. This improves the blood and oxygen flow to your muscles and will improve your performance.
Cardio before weights is recommended as during cardio your body releases synovial fluid to ease the movement of the joints, which then reduces the risk of injury during weights.

Just do it after. Cardio before can actually make your performance worse because you are using energy on running, walking, biking, etc. I always do my cardio after weight lifting.
